An ambitious young executive is sent to retrieve his company’s CEO from an idyllic but mysterious “wellness center” at a remote location in the Swiss Alps. He soon suspects that the spa’s miraculous treatments are not what they seem. When he begins to unravel its terrifying secrets, his sanity is tested, as he finds himself diagnosed with the same curious illness that keeps all the guests here longing for the cure. I’ll never understand why some movies end up rated the way they are. This is one of those movies. It’s not groundbreaking. It’s not mind blowing. But it is a great example of what a quality movie is. The acting is good to excellent. The cinematography and visuals are exceptional. The story is a little odd, but so what? Since when does a movie plot have to be within the realm of “Normal”? It is what it is, and this one actually all comes together relatively well. The pacing, although a long movie, is actually pretty good. You’d think 2-1/2 hours is too long. After watching this movie, I’d have to disagree considering the fact that everything that happened contributes to the story and slowly builds suspense.
